JOB TITLE: Ambulance Driver

JOB SUMMARY:
The Ambulance Driver will assist the EMT in preparing the patient for the transfer. The Ambulance Driver is a member of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) team, and must work with other healthcare providers to deliver care to medically ill and traumatized patients of various criticality. The Ambulance Driver provides or assists in patient assessments, treatment and transportation. Must participate in the operation of the department which includes but not limited to, daily equipment inspections, yearly education day, mandatory training and half of the department monthly training to maintain clinical privilege.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS:
Healthcare Provider BLS (AHA); Valid clean Wyoming Driver’s License.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Is responsible for the safe operations of the Ambulance during 911 response and intra-facility transfers.
- Assists in operation, inspection, cleaning, and restocking of EMS Equipment, EMS Units, EMS Bays, and EMS Crew Quarters each shift.
- Responds in a timely manner to Emergency Calls when on duty (2 minutes or under for Day and Night Shifts). Displays concern for patients and co-workers as well as others by safe and courteous driving. Maintains insurability with CRH motor-carrier insurance agency. Acquires knowledge of streets, roads, and other key areas serviced by CRH-EMS. Is able to interpret maps and rural road directories for navigation to scene destination.
- Responds to Transfers in a timely manner. Report/Patient Information/Questions/Concerns regarding the transfer will be obtained from the Transfer Coordinator, Field Supervisor, Registered Nurse, Physician, or Paramedic Crew Leader on duty. Questions and/or concerns regarding any transfer will be discussed with the Paramedic on duty.
- Attends and participates in all department trainings, run reviews, or assigned web based trainings.
- Treats patients, public and other healthcare providers and public safety personnel with respect and dignity.
- Maintains competency on all equipment within scope of practice.
- Maintain a professional appearance of the approved uniform and dress code in accordance to the CRH-EMS Uniform Policy.
- Has a strong working knowledge of service’s response area.
- Maintains current certifications as BLS Healthcare Provider.
- Follows EMS chain of command structure.
- Adheres to EMS Culture Statement and promotes a positive culture throughout the organization.
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS
- Ability to safely operate an EMS Unit in routine and emergency driving conditions. Maintains Coaching Emergency Vehicle Operation (CEVO)-Ambulance Certification every 2 years.
- Assist in the Emergency Department and other areas/departments within CRH under the direction and supervision of ED staff physician or contracted physician. EMS duties take priority.
- Assist students and observers with EMS operations.
- Assist in community education/service activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
- Maintain insurability for hospital motor vehicle coverage.
