Job Summary

The Oracle EPM Architect is responsible for the hands-on technical architecture, development, administration, and optimization of the Oracle Cloud Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) platform.

This is a highly technical, hands-on position focused on building, maintaining, integrating, and enhancing Oracle EPM applications to support enterprise financial planning, forecasting, consolidation, and reporting.

The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in Oracle Cloud Planning (PBCS/EPBCS), including application development, integrations, automation, scripting, and performance optimization.

This role will work closely with Finance, IT, and functional Financial Systems leadership to deliver reliable, scalable, and efficient Oracle EPM solutions.

What You'll Do

Technical Architecture & Development

  • Design, develop, configure, and maintain Oracle Cloud EPM applications, particularly Planning (PBCS/EPBCS).
  • Take hands-on ownership of the technical architecture, ensuring system scalability, performance, reliability, and security.
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize calculation scripts, business rules, Groovy scripts, and application logic.
  • Build and enhance metadata structures, dimensions, hierarchies, forms, security configurations, and application functionality.
  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues, identify root causes, and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Evaluate Oracle EPM quarterly updates and new features, performing technical impact assessments and supporting implementation.

Integrations, Automation & Data Management

  • Design, develop, and maintain integrations between Oracle EPM, Oracle ERP, and other enterprise data sources.
  • Build and manage automated data loads using EPM Automate, Data Integration, REST APIs, and scripting technologies.
  • Develop and maintain data mappings, integration processes, and automated workflows to ensure accurate and timely financial data.
  • Monitor integration performance, troubleshoot data discrepancies, and resolve data integrity issues.
  • Develop automation solutions to reduce manual processes and improve the efficiency of financial planning and reporting.
  • Work with technologies such as SQL, Python, PowerShell, and Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC), where applicable.

Platform Administration & Optimization

  • Manage the day-to-day technical administration, maintenance, and performance of Oracle EPM applications.
  • Optimize application performance, including calculation times, data loads, business rules, and reporting processes.
  • Implement and maintain appropriate application security, access controls, and technical governance.
  • Support metadata management, system configuration, and master data changes.
  • Perform technical testing, regression testing, troubleshooting, and production deployments.
  • Maintain technical documentation, development standards, and change management procedures.
  • Ensure technical solutions align with SOX controls, audit requirements, and enterprise IT standards.

Business Partnership & Continuous Improvement

  • Collaborate with Finance and functional Financial Systems teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Provide hands-on technical support during budgeting, forecasting, financial close, and reporting cycles.
  • Recommend architectural improvements and automation opportunities to improve the performance and reliability of Oracle EPM.
  • Partner with external implementation consultants and Oracle Support to resolve complex platform issues.
  • Explore opportunities to leverage new Oracle EPM functionality, including AI capabilities, to improve existing processes.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • 6–10 years of hands-on Oracle EPM experience, with deep technical expertise in Oracle Cloud Planning (PBCS/EPBCS).
  • Strong experience designing, developing, configuring, and administering Oracle EPM applications.
  • Advanced knowledge of business rules, calculation scripts, Groovy, metadata management, application security, and performance optimization.
  • Proven experience building and maintaining integrations using Data Integration, EPM Automate, REST APIs, and other integration technologies.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across Oracle EPM applications, integrations, and data management processes.
  • Experience with Oracle EPM platform administration, application migrations, quarterly updates, and deployment processes.
  • Experience with Financial Consolidation & Close (FCCS), Enterprise Data Management (EDMCS), and Oracle reporting tools.
  • Strong knowledge of SmartView, Excel, and Essbase.
  • Ability to work independently as a hands-on technical specialist while collaborating effectively with functional stakeholders.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC).
  • Experience with SQL, Python, PowerShell, or other scripting languages.
  • Knowledge of Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP integrations.
  • Experience with Narrative Reporting and additional Oracle EPM Cloud applications.
  • Oracle Cloud EPM certifications.
  • Experience supporting global enterprise Finance environments.
  • Exposure to Oracle AI functionality within EPM.

Ideal Candidate Profile

A highly technical Oracle EPM professional who enjoys hands-on development, architecture, integration, and troubleshooting.

This individual should be comfortable independently owning the technical environment, building solutions, and resolving complex system issues rather than primarily managing people or overseeing projects.

The strongest candidates will have substantial Oracle Planning (EPBCS/PBCS) experience, particularly with Groovy, business rules, integrations, automation, and application optimization.
