Who We’re Looking For:
A Senior Controls Engineer for a direct hire role to join our client’s Manufacturing team at our Corporate Headquarters in Waukesha, WI.
In this role, you’ll design, implement, and scale automated and semi‑automated control systems that directly impact the quality, performance, and reliability of the client’s manufacturing operations. This is a high‑visibility technical role working with PLCs, robotics, MES integrations, machine vision, and automated equipment suppliers.

What You’ll Do
- Design and deploy automated and semi‑automated control systems across manufacturing operations.
- Develop structured, maintainable PLC code for Rockwell Logix and integrate with conveyors, robots, MES, machine vision, and other subsystems.
- Architect ANSI/RIA/OSHA‑compliant safety systems for robotics and automated machinery.
- Create intuitive HMI screens and support troubleshooting activities.
- Develop controls standards, specifications, and design guidelines for internal teams and external automation partners.
- Collaborate with IT to connect manufacturing assets to the enterprise network.
- Lead RFQs/RFPs, design reviews, machine qualification, and supplier interactions.
- Stay ahead of emerging automation technologies and apply them to real-world manufacturing needs.
- Travel to vendor sites for equipment qualification and acceptance testing (primarily day trips).
What You Bring
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- 7 years of Rockwell Logix experience (design, programming, integration, and troubleshooting).
- Ability to travel occasionally to other client sites.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Expert-level controls engineering experience for high-volume automated manufacturing.
- Experience with GE RXi platforms, safety PLCs, SCADA, historians, OPC, and Industry 4.0 technologies.
- Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols and OT network architectures.
- Experience with SQL, Python, Java, SAP, or Fanuc robotics a plus.
- Ability to lead cross-functional automation projects and influence standards.
