The GIS Project Manager is responsible for leading, coordinating, and supporting a broad range of enterprise-level Geographic Information System (GIS) initiatives. This role oversees the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of Esri GIS server software, desktop applications, and related geospatial services. Acting as a key liaison between the DTMB Geospatial Services team, state agencies, vendors, and subject matter experts, the position ensures alignment of GIS solutions with organizational needs and industry best practices.
Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate geospatial projects across multiple state agencies, ensuring successful delivery of enterprise GIS solutions.
Oversee the implementation, configuration, and maintenance of Esri GIS server software and desktop applications.
Serve as a team lead for GIS deployments, upgrades, data integrations, and ongoing platform improvements.
Support daily operations of enterprise geospatial services, ensuring system reliability, performance, and data integrity.
Gather, analyze, and prioritize requirements from agency GIS stakeholders to inform solution design and project planning.
Establish project timelines, identify resource needs, and manage dependencies to ensure successful project execution.
Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and subject matter experts to support large-scale GIS initiatives and integrations.
Coordinate routine upgrades, maintenance cycles, and enhancements to enterprise GIS systems and infrastructures.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, Environmental Science, or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), including hands-on use of Esri GIS software.
Minimum of 3 years of experience managing geospatial projects and implementations, preferably in an enterprise or multi-agency environment.
Strong understanding of GIS concepts, data structures, spatial analysis, and enterprise geospatial workflows.
Proven ability to coordinate complex projects, manage timelines, and collaborate with diverse stakeholder groups.
Preferred Skills
Experience with ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Portal for ArcGIS, or related Esri technologies.
Knowledge of geospatial databases, spatial data management, and GIS system architecture.
Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
