What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Data Scientist position at Coders Connect?
Coders Connect is proud to partner with a pioneering biotechnology company transforming preclinical research with predictive technologies. Their innovative solutions are redefining the way biomedical and pharmaceutical studies are conducted; enhancing reliability, speed, and clinical success.
We’re now looking for a Senior Data Scientist to take a central role in shaping and delivering the company’s data science function. This is a rare opportunity to join an early-stage data science team and work directly with leadership to influence technical direction, infrastructure, and impact.
What You'll Do:
As the Senior Data Scientist, you’ll be the technical backbone of a growing function. Working closely with the CTO and collaborating with a small team of engineers and scientists, you will:
- Drive Model Development: Design and build machine learning models to power predictions, identify patterns (e.g., clustering, outlier detection), and support preclinical R&D.
- Implement Data Workflows: Develop robust, scalable data pipelines and ensure clean, well-managed datasets for experimentation.
- Collaborate Across Teams: Partner with engineering, product, and scientific teams to embed data-driven solutions into research and development workflows.
- Prototype & Innovate: Test emerging tools and technologies, and contribute to evaluating and implementing the best-fit data science stack.
- Promote Best Practices: Support the adoption of clean coding, reproducibility, and efficient experimentation across the data science lifecycle.
Requirements
- We’re looking for someone who combines technical depth with curiosity and collaboration
- 5–8 years of hands-on data science experience across ML, statistical modeling, and data infrastructure
- Strong experience with tools like Databricks, PyTorch, TensorFlow, Python, R, SQL, and cloud-based platforms
- Experience with ML Ops, version control, and deploying models into production environments
- Comfort with exploratory data analysis and building interpretable visualizations (Tableau, D3.js, etc.)
- An experimental mindset: you know how to test hypotheses, iterate quickly, and learn from failure
- Strong communication skills—you can explain complex findings to non-technical audience
- Bonus: Background in biomedical research, life sciences, or high-impact R&D environments
