Role Description The UAS Flight Test & Integration Engineer is a full-time remote role responsible for planning, executing, and analyzing unmanned aircraft system (UAS) flight tests. In this role, you will develop test plans, define test objectives, prepare instrumentation, and coordinate with cross-functional teams to validate performance, safety, and reliability of autonomous UAS platforms. You will support integration of avionics, sensors, and autonomy software into aircraft, troubleshoot system issues, and document findings and recommendations. Daily activities include data collection and analysis, updating test procedures and configuration baselines, and collaborating with systems, software, and hardware engineers to refine designs based on flight test results. You will also contribute to continuous improvement of test methodologies, adherence to relevant standards, and clear communication of outcomes to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Strong hands-on experience with UAS, robotics, experimental aircraft, or similar systems.
- Deep working knowledge of PX4 or comparable flight-control systems, including advanced tuning, configuration, troubleshooting, and flight-log analysis.
- Ability to diagnose aircraft issues across flight controls, propulsion, sensors, electronics, and mechanical systems.
- CAD and 3D-printing experience for rapid design, fabrication, repair, and modification of aircraft parts and integration hardware.
- Comfortable with soldering, wiring, aircraft assembly, field repairs, and hands-on flight-test operations.
- Able to work in austere conditions across mechanical, electrical, software, and flight-operations problems in a fast-moving startup environment.
