What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part Time Teacher position at Coddington Learning Center?
Job Summary
We are a small childcare facility that is able to provide big center opportunities in a home like environment. We are looking to add a part-time Float Teacher to our team! Teacher will work with children ranging from ages of 6 weeks to 13 years. Our center participates in Rooted In Relationships to help promote the development of healthy social skills as well as Step Up to Quality to ensure we are providing quality care and opportunities for the children in our care.
The hours we are currently needing covered would be:
Monday through Friday 2:00 until 6:00
We would also be able to offer more hours to cover earlier shifts as needed.
The minimum hours I would be able to guarantee for this position would be the hours listed which add up to 20 hours per week.
Must pass Background Checks as required by the State of NE
Responsibilities and Duties
· Follow the program schedule
· Help carry out activity plans
· Employ a variety of educational techniques (storytelling, educational play, media, etc.) to teach children
· Observe each child to help them improve their social skills and build self-esteem
· Encourage children to interact with each other by modeling acceptable play and behavior to the children.
· Guide children to develop their artistic and practical capabilities through a carefully constructed curriculum (identify shapes, numbers, colors, do crafts, etc.)
· Communicate with parents regularly
· Collaborate with other educators and program coaches
· Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards
· Maintain a safe environment for the children
· Provide excellent supervision of children in the classroom as well as on the playground
Qualifications and Skills
· High School Diploma or equivalent
· Excellent understanding of the principles of child development and educational methods
· Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms
· Excellent communication and instructional skills
· Ability to act as a mediator between children
· Cool-tempered, friendly, and reliable
· Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position
Preferred:
· A minimum of 1500 clock hours in a group childcare setting
· Certification in child CPR/First aid or willingness to obtain
· College courses in Early Childhood Education
