Senior Property Accountant @ Real Estate Firm

Coda search is leading a search for a national real estate firm with offices located in NJ. This is a vertically integrated real estate company that develops, manages, and owns a variety of commercial, residential, and mixed-use properties across the nation. The team is looking to onboard a Senior Property Accountant that will oversee a portfolio of properties including preparing the financial statements, managing the GL, and preparing budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis on each property. The Senior Property Accountant will also be responsible for mentoring junior staff members and helping to improve processes and procedures across the group.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the end-to-end month-end close for an assigned portfolio of properties
• Prepare and review full financial statement packages including balance sheets, income statements, and supporting schedules.
• Maintain and oversee the GL across all assigned properties.
• Lead the annual budgeting process for each property in partnership with asset management and operations teams.
• Prepare and analyze monthly cash flow reports for each property
• Review and monitor cash applications to ensure accurate and timely posting of tenant payments.
• Perform detailed monthly variance analysis comparing actual results to budget and prior periods.
• Play a key role in the annual audit process by preparing schedules, supporting documentation, and responding to auditor inquiries.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors in Accounting/Finance
• 4 years of property accounting experience
• Excellent communication skills
• Prior property accounting experience (commercial/residential a plus)
• Ability to manage multiple properties and stakeholders
• Yardi or MRI experience a plus
