Coda Search is partnering with a top AM100 global law firm with offices located in Midtown, Manhattan. The team is seeking to hire a Director of Billing who will oversee billing operations for a group of partners and clients, manage a team of billing professionals, and ensure all invoices are accurate, compliant, and processed efficiently. The ideal candidate will bring deep law firm billing expertise, leadership experience, and a proven ability to drive process improvements within a large, complex environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the full billing and eBilling lifecycle for assigned partners and clients, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely submissions.
- Supervise, train, and mentor billing coordinators and specialists, fostering a high-performing and collaborative team culture.
- Review and approve prebills and finalized invoices prepared by staff, ensuring adherence to client billing guidelines and proper matter coding.
- Serve as the escalation point for complex billing or eBilling issues, collaborating with attorneys, finance leadership, and clients to resolve discrepancies.
- Conduct regular billing audits to maintain quality control, accuracy, and compliance with AFAs, rate structures, and client terms.
- Manage invoice submission through multiple eBilling platforms; oversee rejected or disputed bills to resolution.
- Partner cross-functionally with Pricing, Finance, and Collections teams to ensure proper handling of rates, write-offs, and adjustments.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance billing efficiency, data integrity, and reporting capabilities.
- Support month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting for billing operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent relevant experience considered.
- 8 years of billing or eBilling experience within an AM100 or large global law firm.
- Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience overseeing billing or eBilling professionals.
- Strong proficiency in Aderant and leading eBilling platforms (e.g., BillBlast, LEDES formats).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with attorneys, clients, and finance leadership.
Salary : $180,000 - $220,000
