Clear, accurate drawings are essential to turning great design into a successful remodeling project, and our Architectural Design team relies on strong technical documentation to move projects forward.
As a Draftsperson, you’ll support our Designers by producing, revising, and maintaining accurate architectural drawings and project documentation for residential remodeling projects. Working from approved design direction, redlines, field information, and project details, you’ll help translate design intent into clear and coordinated drawing sets.
This role is focused on technical drafting, documentation, and drawing accuracy rather than primary design development or customer-facing design responsibilities. You’ll work closely with Architecture, Interior Design, Estimating, and Production to help ensure project information is complete, organized, and accurately reflected in the drawings.
What You’ll Do
Architectural Drafting & Drawing Production
• Create and update floor plans, elevations, sections, details, and other architectural drawings based on approved design direction.
• Translate redlines, sketches, field measurements, existing conditions, and project information into clear and accurate drawings.
• Build and maintain project models and drawing sets using company software, standards, and templates.
• Incorporate revisions provided by our Designers and other approved project resources.
• Maintain consistency between dimensions, notes, details, plans, elevations, and other drawing components.
• Produce drawings that clearly communicate project information to Estimating, permitting authorities, and Production.
Drawing Quality & Documentation
• Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, and consistency before internal review.
• Identify discrepancies, missing information, or conflicts and bring them to the ourDesigners for direction.
• Incorporate approved review comments, engineering information, structural details, and other markups into project drawings.
• Prepare and maintain drawing sets and supporting documentation for estimating, permitting, and construction.
• Ensure drawing sets reflect the most current project information and approved design decisions.
Project Coordination
• Work closely with our Designers to understand drawing priorities, revisions, and documentation needs.
• Collaborate with Interior Design, Estimating, and Production to ensure approved project information is accurately reflected in drawings.
• Communicate questions, drawing conflicts, or missing information to the appropriate team member before proceeding.
• Participate in internal drawing reviews and project coordination meetings as needed.
• Complete assigned revisions and drawing updates within established project timelines.
Process & File Management
• Follow COCOON’s standard operating procedures for drafting, documentation, and file management.
• Track assigned drawing tasks, revisions, and deadlines using company systems.
• Maintain organized project files, redlines, notes, and supporting documentation.
• Maintain clear version control across project drawings.
• Identify recurring drafting issues or documentation gaps and share opportunities to improve drawing standards and templates.
What You’ll Bring
• Understanding of floor plans, elevations, sections, dimensions, architectural details, and construction drawings.
• Education, coursework, or professional experience in architectural drafting, architecture, construction technology, residential design, or a related field.
• Experience with architectural drafting/design software; Chief Architect preferred.
• Experience in residential remodeling or residential construction is a plus.
• Ability to interpret redlines, sketches, field information, and design direction accurately.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, and follow-through.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and work both independently and collaboratively.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365.
