Duties
- Supervise and engage children in a variety of fun, educational, and recreational activities aligned with animal shelter and nature themes and schedules
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all campers by practicing proper behavior management and first aid procedures when necessary
- Facilitate inclusive participation by applying classroom management techniques suitable for diverse age groups and developmental needs
- Assist with setting up activities with animals, teaching animal husbandry and organizing fun outdoor activities.
- Support children with special education needs by adapting activities and providing personalized attention when required
- Maintain clear communication with fellow counselors, parents (if applicable), and camp staff to ensure smooth daily operations
- Promote positive social interactions among campers to foster teamwork, respect, and friendship
Experience
- Prior experience working with children in settings such as daycare, babysitting, tutoring, or camp environments is highly preferred
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education practices
- Skills in classroom management, behavior management, and child safety protocols including basic first aid certification
- Experience in animal care, husbandry, coaching, or other extracurricular activities is a plus
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with children of various ages and backgrounds
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with team members and support children's emotional needs
*This is a summer position, this position starts June 1st and ends August 1st.
