Our work brings us into contact with the 1,000 employees of Coconino County based in Flagstaff, Fredonia, Page, Tuba City, Williams, and many of the unincorporated areas of the County. Our current responsibilities include the management and operation of all County-owned buildings and properties; lease management; planning, construction, and renovation of facilities; capital renewal; utility management; custodial service; landscape maintenance and snow removal.
Under limited supervision, performs work of routine difficulty in the cleaning and landscaping of County facilities; performs related work as assigned.
Typical Duties
- Cleans and maintains County facilities
- Identifies and reports repair needs
- Performs grounds maintenance, including snow removal
- May perform minor repairs on custodial equipment.
- May assist with special events
Essential functions of this position include but not limited to driving, standing, walking, reaching, crouching, bending, and stooping to perform maintenance work; lifting and carrying up to sixty (60) pounds when loading and unloading trucks; team lifting up to 100 pounds, working with and around other employees and co-workers; working with frequent interruptions, repetitive motion of hand, wrists, elbow, and shoulders to perform duties, hearing and speech for communication with employees and co-workers; ability to safely use ladders up to 13 feet in height. This is primarily a custodial position approximately 80 to 90% of the time, with 10 to 20% of time spent outdoors performing landscape duties.
Minimum Qualifications
One year of custodial experience; OR any combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must obtain an Arizona driver's license by date of hire and maintain it throughout employment.

This position is non-exempt from overtime.
This position is safety sensitive.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Working knowledge of:
- Materials, equipment, and procedures used in custodial work
- Methods, practices, tools and materials used in a variety of building custodial and landscape work
- Occupational hazards and procedures for storing and handling hazardous materials
Ability to:- Operate a variety of custodial and landscape equipment
- Maintain a safe workplace
- Read and understand product labels and Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and apply appropriate safety precautions
- Effectively handle lifting of objects weighing up to 60 pounds
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Report to work during declared Facility department, county and state emergencies
- Prepare and maintain records and reports
- Work varying shifts, weekends, and holidays
- Work safely and support the culture of workplace safety
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and the public
- Follow written and verbal instructions
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
