POSITION OBJECTIVE: The Special Education Teacher provides intensive, individualized instruction and behavioral support to students with significant disabilities whose needs require a highly structured, self-contained educational setting. This role focuses on supporting students’ academic, behavioral, and functional skill development in alignment with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), state standards, and district expectations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: · Positions in this class typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
· Position requires the ability to manage a physically and emotionally demanding classroom environment
· May include standing, lifting, or assisting students with mobility, personal care, or toileting as needed
· Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
· Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, odors, chemicals, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, and intense noises.
