Position Summary: Associate Faculty provides an invaluable service to the College and our students by providing experience of their profession in our classrooms, laboratories, and studios. Instruction is provided via a variety of media, including face-to-face courses, and blended learning throughout Cochise County and our entire services area. Essential Functions: As defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following tasks, knowledge, skills, and other characteristics. Note: Cochise College requires a post offer, pre-employment background screening of all employees.Compensation: $900 per equated credit unit
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Duties and Responsibilities: Within the scope of college policies and procedures, this position: Teaches assigned courses to enrolled students and manages a diverse population of students in a classroom and/or laboratory environment Develops, prepares and implements lesson plans; conducts pre- and post-assessment of students; evaluates, assesses and plans for students’ educational and social needs Collaborates with other faculty and staff in assessment of teaching strategies and the effectiveness of the instructional program to help promote a culture of continuous improvement Maintains student records, statistics, and/or other pertinent information as required by the college and the department Resolves issues relevant to area of responsibility and scope of authority, referring more difficult or complex problems to the appropriate Department Chair, Dean, or other College official Performs other related duties as assigned.General Expectations: Employees are expected to accomplish assigned duties in an efficient, effective and competent manner and to strive for improvement and excellence in all work performed. Additionally, employees must understand the comprehensive role of the community college and cooperate and work harmoniously with students, faculty and staff, and the public. Employees will follow all college policies, rules, regulations and guidelines as they relate to this position.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Work Environment: Work is performed in a classroom, laboratory, office, or online setting under limited supervision. Evening or weekend work may be required. Physical Requirements: Essential functions of this position require: lifting, manual dexterity, ability to communicate and exposure to biological and chemical hazards. Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds requires a good deal of walking or standing Mental Application: Utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, critical thinking, adaptability and creative problem solving skills are important
