We’re Coburn Technologies - a long-standing manufacturing company right here in South Windsor, CT. We design and build optical equipment we’re proud of, and we’re looking for a Director of Finance who feels the same pride in their work.
This is an on-site, hands-on role. If you’ve spent your career in manufacturing, enjoy being part of the action, and like working closely with leadership to make things better - you’ll fit right in. If you’re more of a “sit back and report from afar” type, this probably isn’t the place for you.
We’re also looking for someone with stability and staying power - not just a stop between jobs. Our best people have been here for years because they care about what they do and who they do it with.
If your background has been in FP&A and you’ve already managed a team, this position also aligns perfectly with your experience and skills.
What You’ll Be Doing - Director of Finance
- Take ownership of monthly financial reporting, clear, accurate, and meaningful to the leadership team.
- Play a key role in our ERP transition (SyteLine experience would be great but not mandatory).
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning.
- Work with department heads and manufacturing teams to turn numbers into real improvements on the floor.
- Keep an eye on costs, inventory, and margins, and help us stay sharp and profitable.
- Maintain solid internal controls and reliable financial systems.
- Oversee audits, tax filings, and vendor management.
- Lead a small, capable finance and purchasing team with a focus on accountability and growth.
Requirements
What We’re Looking For
Director of Finance:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (Master’s or CPA is a plus, but not required).
- 10 years of finance experience in a manufacturing environment - this one’s non-negotiable.
- Proven experience managing budgets, reporting, and ERP systems (SyteLine is a big plus).
- Strong Excel skills and an eye for detail.
- A collaborative mindset and the ability to work closely with operations and leadership.
- Local to South Windsor, CT - this is an on-site position, not hybrid or remote.
