We currently supply engines and engine components to a variety of global customers across a range of uses including defense, firefighting, and transportation.

Calibration Engineer

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Calibration Engineer to join our Autonomous Vehicle Development Team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automotive electrical systems, sensor integration, and embedded control systems. This role will focus on the design, development, integration, and validation of the electrical subsystems that enable autonomous operation.

We are looking for an engine Calibration Engineer who combines deep technical acumen with exceptional communication and customer engagement skills. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working hands-on with mechanical systems, has a knack for data-driven problem-solving, and thrives in customer-facing environments.

You will be responsible for developing, executing, and refining calibration strategies for small hybrid electric propulsion systems to meet performance, efficiency and durability targets. Your work will involve data acquisition, testing, field support, troubleshooting, and analysis, both in the lab and on customer sites.

Key Responsibilities

Calibration & Validation

  • Calibrate propulsion system for performance, efficiency and durability.
  • Develop and execute test plans for calibration activities using tools developed specifically for small autonomous propulsion system control.
  • Perform dyno and in-field testing, data logging, and real-time calibration changes.

Customer Support & Technical Communication

  • Serve as the primary technical interface between engineering and customers for propulsion system-related concerns.
  • Deliver clear, professional communication to explain findings, suggest solutions, and manage expectations.
  • Support customer testing events, troubleshoot issues onsite, and document findings thoroughly.

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Analyze test and calibration data using tools like Excel, MATLAB, or Python.
  • Interpret trends, detect anomalies, and validate results against program targets.
  • Create detailed technical reports and present results to internal and external stakeholders.

Problem Solving & Debugging

  • Investigate root causes of control system or mechanical performance issues.
  • Use a systematic approach to solve real-time issues, often under pressure or field conditions.
  • Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, and software teams to propose and implement fixes.

Mechanical Hands-On Work

  • Understand how two-stroke cycle engines work and the nuances of control of this type of system.
  • Assist with instrumentation setup, sensor configuration, and basic mechanical adjustments as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Automotive Engineering or related field.
  • 2–5 years of hands-on calibration experience with engines, vehicles, or embedded control systems.
  • Strong understanding of engine and/or vehicle dynamics, sensor feedback, and closed-loop control systems.
  • Experience with data acquisition, diagnostic tools, CAN bus communications, and calibration software.

Preferred Skills & Traits

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to explain complex concepts clearly.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with experience in customer-facing roles or direct client interaction.
  • Analytical mindset – confident working with large datasets, identifying trends, and drawing conclusions.
  • Hands-on mechanical aptitude – able to safely and effectively interact with engines, powertrain systems, or testing equipment.

Pay: $120,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year
