Summary
The Senior Rotating Equipment Engineer serves as a technical authority for engine‑driven rotating equipment packages— including gas/diesel engines driving compressors, pumps, and generators. The role supports specification, design, vendor review, testing, troubleshooting, and lifecycle engineering for packaged rotating machinery used in industrial and energy applications.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Technical Leadership
- Lead selection, specification, and evaluation of engine‑driven equipment packages.
- Develop/review datasheets, specifications, requisitions, and vendor documentation.
- Review performance curves, vibration analyses, design calculations, and engine ratings.
- Ensure compliance with API-614, ISO, ASME, and OEM standards.
- Support controls narratives, control system checks, and test procedure development.
Maintenance, Reliability & Troubleshooting
- Support alignment, mounting, foundations, and skid design.
- Develop maintenance strategies, conduct failure analyses, and support reliability programs.
- Diagnose and resolve rotating equipment issues to minimize downtime.
Procurement
- Write detailed equipment specifications and purchase orders.
- Evaluate vendor proposals and verify equipment readiness for testing.
Testing & Commissioning
- Oversee testing and commissioning activities to ensure performance spec is met.
- Create/maintain testing work instructions and ITPs.
- Coordinate with Production, QC, and Test teams to ensure test readiness.
- Analyze test records for compliance and performance.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure safe design, installation, and operation of all rotating equipment.
- Recommend safety and testing improvements and enforce OSHA/company rules.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Mentor junior engineers and work cross‑functionally with mechanical, electrical, process, and production teams.
- Lead customer communication during testing and support quotation activities.
Technology & Continuous Improvement
- Stay current with rotating equipment technology and identify efficiency or cost‑saving improvements.
Skills & Knowledge
- Strong customer communication and multi‑tasking abilities.
- Ability to troubleshoot, test, and service technical equipment.
- Familiarity with API, ASME, NEC/IEC/CSA codes and rotating equipment (compressors, pumps, gears, motors, expanders, generators).
- Hands‑on approach and ability to work independently.
- Strong documentation and organizational skills.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 8–15 years of rotating equipment engineering experience.
- Experience with gas/diesel engines, compressors, pumps, generators, and skid‑mounted systems.
- Understanding of rotor dynamics, vibration, lubrication, sealing, and alignment.
- Experience working with major OEMs and package vendors.
Additional Requirements
- Travel for meetings, commissioning, and field service.
- Prepare detailed field service reports and maintain site‑visit logs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Salary : $120,000 - $170,000
