Private Equity Intern – NYC Spring 2026
CoBe Capital, a family investment office with a permanent capital base, acquires lower middle market private companies and corporate divestitures from global corporations. Headquartered in New York City, CoBe Capital is a fast-growing firm with offices and operations throughout the United States and Europe (www.cobecapital.com).
This undergraduate internship is designed to provide an introduction to the alternative investment industry and will prepare candidates for a successful career in private equity/business development. Interns will receive real-world experience within the lower middle market that will complement their studies and develop essential financial research and business development skills.
Based at the firm's U.S. headquarters in New York City, this role will work on several special projects with the Business Development (Deal Origination) team during the spring 2026 semester. This is an opportunity to learn more about the sourcing and selection of targets that fit a specific lower middle market private equity investment strategy. The nature of the work would support broader initiatives within the organization and be geared towards outreach, research, analysis, and data management. This includes direct outreach to business owners and intermediaries, investigating industries and private companies, and broader M&A trends. The ability to communicate and represent CoBe to business owners and deal sources, as well as an understanding of financial statements will be essential in performing company-specific research.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Sourcing & Market Research: Conduct comprehensive market research to identify and maintain coverage of target lower middle market companies that fit the CoBe's investment criteria
- High-Volume Outreach & Conversion: Develop and execute a consistent, high-volume multi-channel prospecting strategy (cold calling, email, LinkedIn). Ensure diligent follow-up to convert prospects into qualified introductory meetings
- Pipeline Management: Qualify investment opportunities, track all activity in the CRM, and analyze metrics to optimize conversion rates
- Deal Support: Assist with due diligence, industry research, company analysis, and preparation of investment recommendations
- Industry Expertise: Continuously build market knowledge of M&A trends, private equity strategies, and the overall landscape
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be pursuing an undergraduate degree in Business / Finance / Economics / Accounting, or similar
- Ideally be a current freshman or sophomore
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; comfortable interacting at the executive level
- Experience cold calling and prospecting would be an advantage
- Highly motivated self-starter with a strong sense of ownership and ability to work autonomously
- Superior research and organizational skills
- Proven analytical ability and strong technical skills (MS Excel / PowerPoint)
- Demonstrated interest in business development and private equity
- Experience with CRM software (e.g., Salesforce, DealCloud) is a plus
- Must be able to commute to CoBe’s office in Midtown for in-person work consistently at least 3 days a week during the spring semester
- Expected to work a minimum of 20 hours per week in office
