Marketing Intern

Reports to: Marketing & Communications Manager
Supervisor: No supervisory duties are included in this position.
Classification: Part-Time
Job Summary (Essential Functions)
Responsible for several items under the direction and discretion of the Marketing &
Communications Manager. These duties include, but are not limited to, assistance with flier
creation and event marketing, answering phones and communicating details with relevant
department heads, monitoring the communications email inbox for questions and concerns, and
assisting with special projects assigned by management to the marketing department.
Job Tasks/Duties
- Generates web-based communications.
- Maintains and continually improves the club’s website.
- Designs and produces posters, brochures, flyers, invitations, menus, signs, and informational marketing pieces for upcoming events.
- Gathers information for and coordinates the distribution of the club’s newsletter.
- Assists in the setup of club A/V equipment before member events; assists in the oversight of web-based club event functions.
- Produces the marketing and/or communications reports upon request.
- Helps produce and maintain the annual Calendar of Events.
- Responsible for creating and enforcing the club’s graphics standards, logo and visual identity brand.
- Assists all departments with their marketing needs.
- Assists in the hiring of freelance photographers and vendors when necessary.
- Edits and prepares photographs for publication.
- Familiarity with club’s editorial style standards and guidelines and applies these when editing text submitted by staff.
- Establishes and maintains mailing lists for both email and text message correspondence
- Constantly proposing ideas and researching trends to keep club on the forefront of marketing ingenuity
- Other duties as assigned by the Marketing & Communications Manager
Job Knowledge, Core Competencies, and Expectations
- Collaborates with other departments to complete their design and web projects on an as-needed basis.
- Assists the Marketing & Communications Manager with daily tasks
- Assists the Receptionist with daily tasks
- Knowledge of and ability to perform the required role in emergencies.
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (in progress) in Marketing, Website Design, Communications Journalism, or a related major preferred.
- Experience performing substantive editing, editing for style and proofreading.
- Experience with Canva and/or MailChimp preferred.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Must be able to reach, bend, stoop, stand, and lift up to 40 pounds.
- Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time.
- Moderate noise level in the work environment.
- Must be able to handle hot and cold interior and outdoor conditions
Salary : $16 - $18
