Cobb Psychotherapy is a growing private group psychotherapy practice with offices in Midtown Manhattan and Brooklyn Heights. Our clinicians provide therapy services to individuals, couples, children, and families across New York City.

As our practice continues to expand, we are building an in-house billing department and seeking a Part-Time Medical Billing Specialist to assist with insurance claims processing, denial management, and revenue cycle support.

This role is ideal for an experienced medical biller seeking flexible hours within a professional clinical environment.

Position Overview:

The Part-Time Medical Billing Specialist will support the practice’s billing operations by ensuring accurate insurance claim submission, monitoring claim status, and assisting with accounts receivable management.

The ideal candidate has experience in medical billing and commercial insurance claims and is highly detail-oriented.

Key Responsibilities:

Insurance Claims Processing:

• Review claims for accuracy prior to submission.
• Track claim status and follow up on unpaid claims.
  
  

Denial Management:

• Investigate claim denials and rejections.
• Correct and resubmit claims.
• Communicate with insurance carriers to resolve billing issues.
  
  

Accounts Receivable:

• Monitor aging reports.
• Follow up on outstanding balances.
• Maintain accurate billing records.
  
  

Insurance Verification:

• Assist with verifying patient eligibility and benefits.
• Confirm coverage for psychotherapy services.
  
  

Compliance:

• Maintain HIPAA-compliant billing practices.
• Ensure proper documentation supports claims submission.
  
  

Qualifications:

Required:

• Strong phone communication skills.
• 2 years of medical billing experience.
• Familiarity with commercial insurance billing procedures.
• Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills.
  
  

Preferred:

• Experience with mental health / behavioral health billing.
• Experience with SimplePractice or other EHR systems.
  
  

Schedule:

• Part-Time Position.
  
  

Typical Schedule May Include:

• 15–25 hours per week.
• Flexible weekday hours.
  
  

Compensation:

• Hourly rate based on experience.
  
  

Range:

• $22 – $25 per hour.
