What are the responsibilities and job description for the Human Resources Technician position at Cobb County Fire and Emergency Services?
Position Information
The purpose of this classification is to maintain human resources documentation, receive and respond to questions regarding human resources activities, and other human resources administrative tasks as assigned.
Essential Functions
Performs customer service functions in person, by telephone or by email; provides information and assistance regarding department services, forms or other issues; responds to routine questions, complaints, or requests for service.
Utilizes computerized Human Resources systems to process personnel transactions: enters, modifies, and updates employee transactions and information to include benefit changes, salary adjustments, promotions, demotions, transfers, location changes, performance appraisals, and related compensation actions.
Processes new employees in E-Verify and creates employee badges. Verifies, processes, and scans documents; and generates routine reports.
Provides administrative and technical supports to an assigned HR functional area.
Prepares materials and rooms for classes or meetings: sets up rooms and supplies; prints agendas, rosters, certificates, or other materials; assembles packets; prepares refreshments; orders lunches; and greets attendees.
Organizes and maintains supplies and resources: orders office supplies, maintains library of learning resources, and maintains orderly work areas.
Prepares estimates for retirement classes and vested terminations, logs Full-Time terminations and communicates with former employees as needed, monitors to ensure refunds are processed, verifies One Exchange enrollment, notifies the Coordinator if there are issues and ensures coverage is correct; c onducts recruitment and selection to fill County vacancies: coordinates recruitment process with hiring department; creates and posts requisitions, screens and refers applications; administers applicant testing; reviews hiring proposals and salary requests; r equests, processes and analyzes background checks ; coordinates offers; and schedules new hire orientations; partnering with an HR Specialist as needed.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required, supplemented by one year vocational or technical training in human resources or related field; supplemented by three years of experience in customer service, clerical or administrative work.
Physical Abilities
Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station.
Sensory Requirements
Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds, and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Environmental Factors
Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
