Job Overview
We are seeking a friendly, professional, and detail-oriented Dental Receptionist to join our general dental practice. Responsibilities include greeting patients, answering phones, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance benefits, checking patients in and out, processing payments, maintaining accurate patient records, and supporting the daily operations of the front office.

Duties
- Greet patients warmly and provide a welcoming, professional experience from check-in to check-out.
- Answer and manage a multi-line phone system, scheduling appointments and responding to patient inquiries.
- Schedule, confirm, and coordinate patient appointments using Open Dental practice management software.
- Verify dental insurance eligibility and benefits, obtain pre-authorizations when needed, and explain patient financial responsibilities.
- Check patients in and out, collect payments, process copays, and maintain accurate financial records.
- Maintain accurate patient records by entering and updating demographic, insurance, and treatment information.
- Coordinate with dentists, hygienists, and clinical staff to ensure an efficient daily schedule and smooth patient flow.
- Send appointment reminders and follow up with patients regarding treatment plans, recalls, and missed appointments.
- Process referrals, patient forms, and other administrative documents while maintaining HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality.
- Assist with treatment plan presentations and answer basic questions regarding scheduling, insurance, and payment options.
- Maintain an organized front office, manage incoming and outgoing correspondence, and order office supplies as needed.
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing patient concerns professionally and helping create a positive experience for every visit.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Dental Receptionist or in a dental office is preferred.
- Familiarity with Open Dental or other dental practice management software is preferred.
- Knowledge of dental insurance verification, claims, and patient billing is an asset.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills with a professional, friendly demeanor.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced dental office.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic computer applications.
- Experience answering multi-line phone systems and scheduling patient appointments.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when maintaining patient records.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is required.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
