Job Title: Electrical Troubleshooter

Department:  Assembly - Final

Reports To: Department Supervisor

FLSA Status: Hourly

Summary: Complete electrical assemblies in power and final. Program boats, test all electrical components and systems, and trouble shoot electrical issues on the line, working with electrical engineering and the assembly teams to find solutions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Apply high energy, self-motivation, and initiative to learn and be trained on various types of electrical systems and processes.
  • Ability to use safely and effectively high-speed pneumatic and battery powered power tools: drills, drivers etc., hand tools, etc.
  • Must be able to read drawings and electrical specifications. Complete required documentation for production and QA purposes.
  • Must be able to analyze and trouble shoot electrical systems, understand and read wiring diagrams, and be able to recognize defects in the electrical systems.
  • Ability to work with Digital Multi-Meter, laptops, tablets, and use a variety of electrical hand tools to properly fix electrical defects such as pins, connectors, crimps, etc.
  • Daily job duties will be varied and dynamic.
  • Workload will be tracked via daily schedules and assignments requiring responsibility and accountability for quality and timeliness of completion.
  • Ability to perform job functions safely and effectively in a fast-paced environment while wearing all required PPE.
  • Ability to take on new tasks and duties with little training or assistance.
  • Be able to train operators on the proper methods and best practices of completing their tasks in terms of electrical wiring and systems.
  • Be a self-starter and expert in electrical systems.
  • Be able to complete multiple tasks in a timely and safe manner.
  • Learn new models and will work with Electrical engineering and R&D on establishing and implementing best practices. Will train other operators on those best practices.
  • Practice good housekeeping.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience High School diploma or general education degree (GED) with experience working with electrical systems. Two-year Vocational degree in electrical systems preferred. Boat operation experience preferred; experience with common hand tools preferred. Understanding of basic DC electrical systems and diagnostic equipment.

                                                 

Language Skills                                                

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills                                                     

Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands Regularly required to work at, lifting parts and pieces up to 50 lbs., traveling up and down stairs, sitting, squatting and bending in various awkward positions for certain lengths of time - including working overhead, traveling in and out of work areas, walking and being on your feet for a majority of the work day. Physical exertion is required.

Typical 10 hour work days, frequent overtime required.
