The Powder Coat Line Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all operations of the powder coating line during the weekend shift. This role ensures efficient production, high-quality finishing standards, and adherence to safety and operational procedures. The supervisor will lead and support a team of production employees while maintaining productivity, equipment performance, and quality control throughout the coating process.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate all powder coating line operations during the weekend shift (Friday–Sunday, 12-hour shifts).
- Lead, train, and support powder coat line employees to meet production and quality targets.
- Ensure proper preparation, coating, curing, and finishing processes are followed.
- Monitor production schedules and adjust staffing or workflow to meet output goals.
- Perform quality checks to ensure coatings meet company and customer specifications.
- Identify and troubleshoot equipment or process issues and coordinate maintenance when needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with company safety policies.
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of powder coating equipment, ovens, guns, and conveyors.
- Track and report production metrics, downtime, scrap, and quality issues.
- Enforce company policies, safety regulations, and standard operating procedures.
- Assist with employee evaluations, coaching, and performance management.
- Collaborate with other departments such as maintenance, quality, and shipping to ensure smooth operations.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience required.
- 2 years of experience in powder coating, finishing, or metal fabrication preferred.
Skills & Abilities
- Ability to read work orders, production schedules, and quality standards.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot coating defects and process issues.
- Basic computer skills for reporting and production tracking.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during a 12-hour shift.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed.
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with heat, noise, and production equipment.
- Ability to wear required PPE including respirators, gloves, and safety glasses.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with automated powder coating lines.
- Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience.
- Familiarity with quality systems and inspection processes.
