Coastline Equipment Inc., a manufacturer of custom food processing equipment, is seeking a Process Controls Engineer to join our team.
The ideal candidate will have experience in designing and programming system controls. This new position will be a hybrid of both in office and part of our road team for installs, service and the Preventative Maintenance program. Travel will be extensive at times.

What You’ll Do
- Develop control system design packages in collaboration with engineers and project teams
- Interpret P&IDs and translate them into control system drawings and documentation
- Travel onsite to assist in equipment integration and startup
- Spec out control devices and sensors
- Work closely with mechanical engineering teams and sales to come up with automation solutions
- Keep up to date with new technology, be the SME for electrical systems and automation controls
What We’re Looking For
- 3-5 years of experience in industrial automation
- Experience working with/on PLC’s, HMI’s, Servos, VFD’s, electrical, hydraulics, controls, and pneumatics.
- Understands how to read and translate the information found within all: PLC code, Schematic wiring, One-line, and P&ID process diagrams.
- Experience with AB PLCs, “Studio 5000”, HMI, "FactoryTalk", VFD’s, Servo, Sensors, Instrumentation, and industrial control systems. (Siemens TIA Portal a plus).
- Possess knowledge of and apply electrical standards, including National Electrical Code and UL508a, apply safe electrical work practices including LOTO and Arc Flash safety - NFPA 70e.
- Knowledge of Industrial Ethernet Networks and network communication standards.
- Skilled in use of electrical test equipment including voltmeters, amp meters, process meters, network analyzers and other testing devices to troubleshoot electrical issues.
- Understands, and is familiar with safety systems for plant equipment such as safety PLCs, E-stops, safety relays, and light curtains.
- Possesses an understanding of calibration procedures for process instruments, which measure temperature, pressure, flow, level and composition, along with an understanding of process controls and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD (or similar design software)
- Experience designing control panels, wiring systems, and industrial communication networks
- Working knowledge of material handling and packaging equipment
- Strong communication skills and professionalism with customers
