What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Estimator position at Coastline Contracting, Inc.?
This position involves the estimating and management of site work & construction projects and will require the applicant to manage project budgets & schedules. Experience in asphalt paving & grading necessary.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Develop a complete & accurate bid proposal including; quantity take-offs, existing to proposed surface; crew composition; material and subcontractor pricing.
Attend pre-bid meetings with the owner, vendors & subcontractors.
Primary communicator with project owners and/or engineers
Experience in using Carlson Civil
Procure materials and major equipment
Negotiate, secure and manage subcontractors
Compare bid pricing to historical data
Read, outline and communicate specifications and plans for superintendents and foreman
Manage site superintendents and vendors and subcontractors, ensuring projects are within budget and on time
Manage numerous projects while simultaneously completing estimating duties
Develop and maintain project schedule. Prepare and maintain the project progress and budget.
Change order pricing and negotiations
The ideal candidate will have the following:
A record of successfully estimating and managing asphalt paving construction projects
3-5 years’ experience in site work and asphalt construction project management
Have a working knowledge of means and methods, crew composition and production rates for all aspects of asphalt construction
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Work, Outlook and project standard scheduling software with the ability to adapt to a variety of computer applications.
Cost accounting experience preferred.
The ability to work with a team and independently to complete projects within stated deadlines
Communicate effectively
Follow and reinforce company safety policies
Strong attention to detail
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Analytical and problem-solving skills
Must be ambitious and self-motivated, with a can do attitude
Must have a valid driver’s license
