Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Heavy Construction Equipment Mechanic to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy machinery and industrial equipment used in construction, farming, and infrastructure projects. Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on heavy construction equipment such as excavators, cranes, bulldozers, and loaders using OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) schematics and technical manuals.
- Conduct routine maintenance tasks including oil changes, filter replacements, hydraulic system checks, brake repairs, transmission servicing, and tire service to maximize equipment uptime.
- Fabricate custom parts or modify existing components using welding, soldering, and fabrication techniques to meet specific operational needs.
- Troubleshoot electrical systems and perform automotive diagnostics on diesel engines, HVAC systems, air brakes, suspension components, and powertrain assemblies.
- Operate heavy machinery for testing purposes after repairs to ensure optimal performance and safety compliance.
- Maintain detailed service records of all repairs performed and parts used; adhere to safety protocols during all maintenance activities.
- Assist with assembly of new equipment or components as needed; support the training of junior technicians in proper repair procedures.
Qualifications
- Proven mechanic experience with dealership backgrounds or extensive hands-on work with heavy equipment is highly preferred.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of Caterpillar (CAT), OEM standards, and farm machinery is essential.
- Proficiency in reading schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals for complex machinery systems.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and heavy lifting techniques.
- Experience with hydraulics, electrical systems, transmissions, suspension alignment, tire service, and diesel engine repair.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while working in various environmental conditions; familiarity with heavy equipment operation is a plus.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly with team members and clients regarding repairs or maintenance needs.
- Certifications related to automotive repair or diesel engine mechanics are advantageous; ongoing training in HVAC or welding is a plus.
