Success means delivering quality work safely, meeting schedule commitments, protecting project margins, and maintaining strong relationships with customers and trade partners.

Key Responsibilities:

 Project Planning and Startup

  • Participate in project handoff and review the estimate, scope, contract, schedule, plans, specifications, and project risks.
  • Develop and maintain project budgets, cost codes, procurement plans, submittal logs, and project schedules.
  • Coordinate project startup with the superintendent, including staffing needs, site logistics, equipment, materials, and layout requirements.
  • Identify scope gaps, long-lead items, design conflicts, and schedule constraints early.
  • Establish clear communication, documentation, and approval processes for the project team.

Cost and Financial Management

  • Manage project costs and forecast cost to complete, committed costs, labor, equipment, materials, and other project expenses.
  • Monitor production and labor performance with the superintendent and take action when work is trending over budget or behind plan.
  • Review invoices, purchase orders, subcontractor commitments, time and cost reports, and project financial projections.
  • Prepare regular project status updates and forecasts for company leadership.
  • Protect project profitability by addressing risk, controlling costs, and promptly documenting changes in scope.

Schedule and Field Coordination

  • Partner with the superintendent to develop, maintain, and communicate the project schedule and near-term work plans.
  • Coordinate concrete activities with the general contractor, owner, design team, suppliers, and other trades.
  • Track milestones, inspections, submittals, procurement, and information needed to keep work moving.
  • Attend job site meetings and visit the project regularly to understand progress, constraints, and emerging issues.
  • Help resolve field questions and coordinate timely responses from the design team and customers.

Contract and Change Management

  • Understand the company’s contract requirements, scope, schedule obligations, and notice deadlines.
  • Identify, price, negotiate, track change orders and extra work.
  • Ensure out-of-scope work is documented and submitted for approval in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of correspondence, meeting minutes, directives, field conditions, and schedule impacts.
  • Support the resolution of payment, scope, and performance issues with customers and trade partners.

Procurement and Trade Partner Management

  • Coordinate purchasing of concrete, reinforcing steel, formwork, embeds, equipment, and other project needs.
  • Review supplier and subcontractor proposals for scope, schedule, pricing, and compliance with project requirements.
  • Track material deliveries and address shortages, lead times, or quality concerns with suppliers.
  • Manage subcontractor and vendor commitments, performance, documentation, and payment processes as assigned.
  • Build professional working relationships with customers, suppliers, and trade partners.

Quality, Safety, and Closeout

  • Support the company’s safety expectations and coordinate with the superintendent and safety team to address project concerns.
  • Help ensure work complies with approved plans, specifications, quality requirements, and company standards.
  • Coordinate inspections, testing, punch-list work, warranties, as-builts, and other closeout requirements.
  • Support timely completion of project documentation and final cost reconciliation.
  • Participate in project reviews and identify lessons learned for future work.

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Experience with self-performing concrete operations
  • Background working for a concrete contractor or managing concrete scopes for a general contractor.
  • Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related degree; equivalent practical experience may be considered.
  • Experience with project cost-control or construction-management software.

  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and scopes of work.
  • Strong communication, organization, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with superintendents, field crews, customers, suppliers, and company leadership.
