Staff Accountant

DCCM | California is looking for a skilled and driven Staff Accountant, requiring at least three years of experience for this specialized Civil Engineering role, preferably in residential, commercial, and industrial construction. Candidates with prior experience in a city or county jurisdiction are preferred. This role presents outstanding growth potential for the right candidate.

Summary:

The Staff Accountant is responsible for managing the accounting aspects of projects and collaborating with Project Managers on various tasks within Vantagepoint. This includes project setup, budgeting and forecasting, accounts payable entry, timesheet management, and client invoicing. Familiarity with Deltek Vision or Vantagepoint would be a significant advantage in this role.

Key Responsibilities for the Staff Accountant (Project Accountant):

• Reviewed owner contracts and identified contractual terms for billing purposes
• Created project accounts in the accounting system, prepared and input project cost data entries
• Analyzed and processed job-related costs in accordance with internal control procedures
• Investigated project variances and submitted variance reports to management
• Closed out project accounts upon project completion and recognized final revenue
• Compiled information for Internal and External auditors as required
• Accounts Payable - Reviewed supplier invoices related to a project
• Accounts Receivable - Conferred with Receivable staff regarding unpaid contract billings
• Provide forecasting and budgeting in VantagePoint
• Provide accounting support to Project Managers and project billers, reviewed billing terms set up and checked invoices
• Responsible for handling the AP process, including match, batch and coding of invoices, vendor management and check runs
• Responsible for handling the AR process, including billing/invoicing, cash postings and collections as needed
• Invoicing clients and Public Works departments

Key Requirements for the Staff Accountant (Project Accountant):

• 3 years of hands-on general accounting duties
• Vantagepoint or Deltek Vision experience preferred
• Ability to multi-task and highly organized
• Strong attention to detail and solid team player
• 1 years of experience in a Civil Engineering or Construction environment
• Background in customer journey mapping, lifecycle marketing, or customer retention programs
• Exposure to revenue operations, sales enablement, or customer onboarding tools
