This is a full-time Senior Commercial Underwriter role based on-site in Santa Maria, CA. The Senior Commercial Underwriter will be responsible for evaluating and analyzing commercial credit applications and financial information to assess creditworthiness and make informed loan recommendations. Day-to-day tasks include assessing risk, structuring loan terms, collaborating with relationship managers, monitoring existing loans, and staying updated on industry regulations and financial trends.
- Strong Analytical Skills with the ability to assess financial risk and analyze complex credit applications
- Proficiency in Underwriting, with experience in evaluating and structuring commercial loans
- Knowledge of Insurance products and their role in lending
- Expertise in Finance and understanding of lending practices within financial institutions
- Comprehensive understanding of Loans, including regulations, risk factors, and best practices
- Excellent decision-making, communication, and organizational skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field is required
- 5 years of experience in commercial credit or underwriting, preferably in a financial institution
- Familiarity with California's Central Coast economic environment is a plus
