What are the responsibilities and job description for the Radiology Technician position at Coastal Tides Surgical Center?
- Completes all needed radiographic imaging needs within the facility.
- Appropriately saves, prints and stores radiologic images per policy
- Completes annual checks on radiology safety equipment i.e. lead aprons
- Ensures appropriate preventative maintenance is completed on radiology equipment per manufacture’s recommendations.
- Ensures all staff are appropriately monitored using dosimetry badges per policy
- Completes annual radiation safety training for all clinical staff
- Assists with orientating all new clinical staff to radiology policies, procedures, and equipment
- Assists with transport of patients per requests by nurse managers
- Adheres to providing care within licensure and training.
- Assists nursing staff by obtaining vital signs, ambulating patients, and transporting to vehicles.
- Assists with cleaning of OR rooms including daily terminal cleanings
- Assists with the surgical timeout when appropriate
- Identifies patient care requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual patients and other persons in a position to understand care requirements.
- Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological and spiritual support to patients, friends, and families.
- Assures quality of care by adhering to the therapeutic standards; measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards; making or recommending necessary adjustments; following organization philosophies and other governing agency regulations.
- Wipe room furniture and equipment with antimicrobial before opening for first case and after each case.
- Keep noise level to a minimum in clinical areas
- Wash hands between patient contact and more often as needed.
- Check with the Nurse Manager during down time.
- Resolves patient problems and needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations, calling for assistance from health care support personnel.
- Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
- Reports off to the Nurse Manager or designee at the end of each day.
- Maintains patient confidentiality and protects operations by keeping information confidential and only accessing information on a need-to-know basis to maintain patient continuity care.
- Ensures operation of equipment by following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; notifying supervisor of needed repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; and evaluating new equipment and techniques.
- Maintains supply inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies and maintain adequate CEU’s for re-certification (if needed).
- Maintains and cooperative relationship among health care team members by communicating information; responding to requests; building rapport; participating in team problem solving methods.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
- Understands and performs accurately responsibilities and duties assigned during Fire, Disaster, and Bomb drills and/or actual events.
- Abides by all regulatory agency guidelines including but not limited to OSHA, AHCA HIPAA, state and federal guidelines and laws delineating health care in the ASC environment, and reports issues of non-compliance matters to the Director of Nursing.
