What are the responsibilities and job description for the PRN Respiratory Therapist (Contracted PFT Services) position at Coastal Pulmonary and Critical Care, PLC?
PRN Respiratory Therapist (Contracted PFT Services)
Coastal Pulmonary & Critical Care, PLC | St. Petersburg, Florida
Job Overview
Coastal Pulmonary & Critical Care, PLC is seeking an experienced Respiratory Therapist (RT) to perform pulmonary function testing (PFTs) in our outpatient pulmonary office in St. Petersburg, Florida.
This is a flexible, contracted PRN opportunity for a Respiratory Therapist who has previous hands-on experience performing pulmonary function tests. Prior PFT experience is mandatory and non-negotiable. Applicants without previous PFT experience will not be considered.
The purpose of this position is to expand testing availability in our office, reduce scheduling delays, and provide our patients with more opportunities to complete their pulmonary testing locally.
This position offers flexibility in scheduling, with the ability to select your available days based on your schedule and our office's patient testing needs. A minimum commitment of 4 days per month is required. A full day of testing can accommodate up to 13 PFT studies, depending on patient scheduling. Compensation is $35.00 per PFT study performed, making this an excellent opportunity for an experienced RT seeking a flexible arrangement without a set weekly schedule.
Responsibilities

- Operate in-office pulmonary testing equipment and follow established testing protocols.
- Provide clear instructions and guidance to patients to ensure accurate, reliable, and reproducible test results.

- Ensure testing is completed accurately and results are properly documented for provider review and interpretation.
- Follow established office procedures, infection control guidelines, and equipment cleaning protocols.
- Coordinate with office staff to support efficient patient scheduling and testing workflows.
- Follow the practice's established procedures for documenting and preparing test results according to provider reporting preferences.
Experience and Qualifications
- Current Respiratory Therapist credentials and any applicable licensure or certifications required for the services performed.
- Previous hands-on experience performing pulmonary function tests is REQUIRED. This requirement is mandatory and non-negotiable. Applicants without prior PFT experience will not be considered.
- Familiarity with pulmonary testing equipment, testing procedures, and techniques for obtaining accurate and reproducible results.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality patient care.
- Professional communication skills and the ability to work independently.
- Dependable, organized, and comfortable working in an outpatient pulmonary practice.
- Ability to follow established protocols and communicate effectively with office staff and providers.
Compensation and Scheduling
- Compensation: $35.00 per PFT study performed.
- Flexible scheduling based on your availability and the practice's patient testing needs.
- Minimum commitment of 5 days per month.
- Ability to select available days in coordination with the practice.
- No set weekly schedule required.
- Contracted PRN arrangement, not a traditional employee position with Coastal Pulmonary & Critical Care, PLC.
Training and Orientation
Training and orientation will be provided by one of our experienced Respiratory Therapists to familiarize you with our specific PFT equipment, office workflow, and providers' reporting preferences.
Training time is unpaid. This is a contracted PRN arrangement rather than an employed position with the practice. Compensation of $35.00 per study applies to PFT studies performed under the contracted arrangement.
