The Yard amp; Warehouse Utility Operator plays a vital role in supporting logistics, material handling, and yard operations. This position includes a mix of jockey duties (moving trailers within the yard), forklift operation, and general labor tasks. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, and capable of performing physical work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate yard truck (jockey truck) to move trailers and containers within the facility safely and efficiently.
- Perform daily yard checks to ensure efficient operations and proper placement of containers and equipment.
- Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment to load, unload, stack, and organize materials and products.
- Perform general labor duties such as sweeping, cleaning, organizing inventory, and assisting with warehouse upkeep.
- Assist with shipping and receiving activities, including verifying paperwork and inspecting goods.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the yard, dock, and warehouse areas.
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment and report any maintenance needs.
- Work closely with team members and other departments to ensure efficient operations and timely movement of materials.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
- Support other departments or team members as needed.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience operating a jockey truck, forklift, or in general labor is highly desirable.
- Valid driver’s license; CDL is a plus but not required.
- Forklift certification or willingness to obtain.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and time management skills.
Work Environment:
- Conditions: Indoor and outdoor work environment with exposure to weather, noise, and heavy equipment.
- Hours: Must be available to work flexible hours, including potential overtime and weekends
Work Schedule:
- Days: Monday through Friday
- Hours: 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM
