The Rail Dock Laborer plays a critical role in maintaining cleanliness and organization within the rail dock area. This position requires physical stamina, reliability, and a strong work ethic. The primary responsibility is the manual removal of dunnage from inbound railcars and ensuring the rail dock meets established cleanliness and safety standards
Key Responsibilities:
- Manually remove all dunnage (cardboard, airbags, paper, and wooden spacers) from inbound railcars
- Dispose of dunnage in designated dumpsters or stack neatly on the rail dock for removal
- Ensure railcars are clean after the unloading process is completed
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the rail dock area
- Remove debris, paper, and clutter from rail tracks
- Safely operate forklifts as needed
- Conduct pre-use inspections of equipment at the start of each shift
- Open and close railcar doors
- Perform physically demanding tasks, including standing/walking all day with frequent bending, reaching, and stretching
- Work under the general direction of the Shipping & Receiving Clerk
- Perform housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Maintain punctual daily attendance and willingness to work overtime as required
- Assist with additional duties as assigned to support operations
- Prior warehouse experience required
- Forklift experience required
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Must be a self-starter, motivated, and able to work independently
- Ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift, pull, bend, squat, kneel, and twist frequently
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift
- Must be able to handle physically demanding work in an outdoor environment
- Conditions: The role involves working both inside the warehouse and outside on the rail dock, with exposure to varying temperatures and noise levels, requiring physical stamina.
- Hours: Must be available to work flexible hours, including potential overtime and weekends.
- Days: Monday through Friday
- Hours: 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM
