Description:
The Custodial Lead is responsible for work involving the assignment of custodial employees in maintaining the cleanliness of the Coastal Heritage Society’s museum facility and grounds. This position is also responsible for training new employees in proper custodial procedures. The Custodial Lead performs a wide variety of cleaning duties in and around museum facilities, responds to calls for service, and works closely with staff to meet the custodial needs of the museum to enhance the overall museum experience for Coastal Heritage Society’s guests.
Responsibilities:
· Performs a variety of cleaning and floor maintenance duties, including fixtures, carpet cleaning, tile scrubbing, buffing, waxing, and pressure washing.
· Emptying trash and recyclables.
· Restocking supplies.
· Respond promptly to service calls and requests from museum staff.
· Collaborate with staff to meet custodial needs.
· Conduct regular inspections to maintain high cleanliness standards. Assisting the Maintenance and Custodial Manager to remediate non-conforming inspections.
· Promote a safe work environment.
· Train new employees in proper custodial zone and team cleaning procedures, safety protocols, and equipment usage.
· Ensures that custodial services meet the needs of the department, Coastal Heritage Society, and established custodial guidelines by scheduling work services and adjusting workloads as needed.
· Assist the Maintenance and Custodial Manager to develop an effective team of custodians. Leading by example, instructing all employees in the proper use of materials, chemicals, and equipment for safe and efficient work performance. Fosters a positive productive team environment, promoting excellent customer service.

· Attends all staff and safety meetings.
· Assists the Maintenance and Custodial Manager with the interviewing process of new janitorial applicants as needed.
· Manage inventory, ordering supplies, and maintaining equipment.
· Ensures that everything is done on time and on budget.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor in support of the Mission of Coastal Heritage Society.
Qualifications and Requirements:
· High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
· 2 years of custodial lead experience.
· Basic knowledge of cleaning procedures, equipment, and safety protocols.
· Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
· Knowledge of applicable Safety Data Sheets (SDSs).
· Ability to evaluate situations and make decisions.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
· Excellent communication (both oral and written), leadership, and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent planning and organizational skills.
· Exceptional customer service skills.
· Must be able to work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
· Must be able to work in all weather conditions.

§ Much work of this position requires the ability to physically navigate a variety of spaces and terrain, both indoors and out, often in a dynamic space with a historical landscape.

§ This position will require climbing stairs, ladders, lifting, carrying, and moving heavy objects (up to 50-60 pounds and occasional 70 pounds); bending, stooping, and kneeling; working in cramped or confined spaces; exposure to extreme temperatures (hot, cold, humid); dust, dirt, mold, and chemicals.
§ Requires ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with a variety of audiences, team members, and guests.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
