We provide competitive pay, starting at $20.22 per hour for an EMT, with 1% additional per year, for every year of experience as an EMT, up to 10 years. The average annual base for an EMT with Coastal is $44,000 - $49,100 per year. Shifts may be daytime, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays. We offer shift differential and overtime. Days worked are typically based on a rotating schedule, which may include alternating weekends, and may include built-in overtime.All employees receive a team of dedicated leadership professionals committed to helping you succeed. Our daily call volume includes, inter-facility SCT, ALS and BLS transports, stemming from pre-hospital healthcare and hospital to hospital facilities. We provide some pre-scheduled or same day appointments as well as critical care transports. Our Field Operations team consist of highly skilled medical professionals, working with every hospital and healthcare facility in Brevard County, and with hospitals and specialty facilities throughout the state. Responsible for the BLS level of care, treatment and transport of patients to appropriate receiving facilities. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Responding to non-emergency and emergency calls calmly, efficiently, and promptly.Administering basic life support to patients on scene and during transport in accordance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.Assessing the nature and extent of injury or illness to establish and prioritize medical procedures.Effectively communicating with medical personnel and treatment facilities.Completing patient care forms, evaluation forms, and all other forms.Adhere to and follow all policies and procedures concerning safety and contamination by bloodborne pathogens.Properly document each transport on the approved Patient Care Report. Handling telephone and radio communications professionally and efficiently with careful regard to the divulgence of information respecting confidentiality requests at all times.Assuring that vehicles are in good working condition at all times, are properly maintained and stocked, have all necessary equipment and reassure this equipment is in good working order at all times.May be required to be on-site for throughout any man-made or natural disaster from initial evacuation until the cessation of disaster support operations. May be required to remain on site for extended periods in support of operations.Observes and complies strictly with all HIPAA policies and regulations. Performs other related duties as assigned by management.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:This job has no supervisory responsibilities. QUALIFICATIONS:High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or equivalent Current State of Florida EMT certification, which must be maintained and currentCurrent American Heart Association BLS CPR certificationEVOC/CEVO certification (may be obtained during training)Current FL Driver’s License, with a driving record that meets insurance requirements for driving a company-owned vehicleExcellent verbal and written communication skills.Must be able to read/write/speak/understand English language fluently.Six months of prior EMT experience preferredPHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:Prolonged periods of standing, sitting, walkingFrequently required to utilize hand and finger dexterityOccasionally required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crawlFrequently required to talk or hearCoastal is a 24/7/365 operation. As a healthcare organization, any employee may be requested or required at times to work outside of their traditional ‘business hours’ as scheduled by management.
