What are the responsibilities and job description for the VEHICLE SUPPLY TECH position at COASTAL HEALTH SYSTEMS OF?

 

Shifts may be daytime, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays. We offer shift differential and overtime. Days worked are typically based on a rotating schedule, which may include alternating weekends, and may include built-in overtime.

Below is an example of that rotating schedule

In addition to base pay  time and half for all hours over 40 per week, all Operations employees receive shift differentials as follows:

  • Mon – Fri  2300-0700 – Additional $4.00 per hour
  • Sat & Sun 0700-2300 – Additional $4.50 per hour
  • Sat & Sun 2300-0700 – Additional $5.00 per hour

We provide specialized  ambulance transport within and outside of Florida. Our patients range from pre-scheduled appointments, to inter-facility  ALS and BLS transport, to urgent critical care transports, and our Field Operations crews are highly skilled medical professionals, working with every hospital and healthcare facility in Brevard, with hospitals and specialty facilities throughout the state. Coastal is a 24/7/365 facility, and this is a part-time position that is primarily days, though some opportunities for varied shifts may arise to cover for team members who have taken PTO.

JOB TITLE: Vehicle Supply Technician (VST)

 

EMPLOYER: Coastal Health Systems of Brevard

 

DEPARTMENT: 60 - Ambulance

 

REPORTS TO: Division Chief- Logistics and Fleet

 

EFFECTIVE DATE: 9/1/2023 Revised 5/1/2025

 

SUMMARY: Accountable for stocking, cleaning, equipping, and issuing of units and necessary supplies to crews in preparation for field shifts. Directs the movement, storage, or processing of inventory.

Provides accurate, timely and customer based service to reporting field crews to ensure efficient in-service times. Delivers supplies to off campus crews and returns used equipment to appropriate facilities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • This position is required to maintain the highest standards of confidentiality in regards to electronic records and all forms of proprietary information. Work products and/or protected information will not be shared or otherwise transferred outside of the company without the prior expressed consent of the President/CEO. 
  • Assigns the appropriate vehicle and issues medical supplies. 
  • Recovers, cleans, and prepares exchange item equipment from hospitals.
  • Maintains a safe and clean work environment (including biohazard maintenance).
  • Performs necessary work of all functions pertinent work to preparing and pre-launching start of shift and end of shift duties to prepare for next shift.
  • Complies with state, local, and federal laws (e.g. state & county inventory levels, OSHA).
  • Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with all levels of staff and personnel.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication, cooperation and responsiveness with operations staff.
  • Observes and complies strictly with all HIPAA policies and regulations. 
  • Maintains a safe and healthy workplace in accordance with all appropriate OSHA standards, company policies and standard operating procedures. 
  • Attends continuing education pertinent to materials.
  • Follows all safety policies and procedures. 
  • Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
  • Regular and prompt attendance is required.
  • Aligns with organization mindset of Just Culture.
  • Works with the organization to meet the standards set forth in CAAS.
  • Presents professional appearance and demeanor.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Physically and mentally able to operate an ambulance type vehicle.
  • Current Florida Driver License with driving record that meets company insurance requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to read/write/speak/understand English language fluently.
  • Proficient in MS Office platforms.
  • Standard/Specialized office equipment and software programs related to office processes.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds unassisted.
  • The employee must frequently lift/move 250 pounds with assistance.
  • Specific vision abilities required for this job include; depth perception and ability to adjust focus; sufficient vision/hearing to meet motor vehicle licensing requirements.
  • Specialized equipment, machines, or vehicles used:  motor vehicles, mechanical tools, stretchers, computers, radios, personal safety equipment, solvents and automotive chemicals.

This may include evenings, nights, weekends, holidays and/or man-made or natural disaster situations, such as hurricanes, tropical storms, or Mass Casualty Incidents (MCI).
