Driver Apprentice - City

Position Overview: This role involves operating tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles and straight trucks, with a focus on safety, freight handling, and customer service. Responsibilities include performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections, hooking/unhooking trailers, handling freight using forklifts and manual equipment, and securing cargo. The role also requires verifying documentation, maintaining records, and ensuring compliance with hazardous material regulations.

Key Duties

• Operate various trucks and perform safety inspections
• Handle freight using forklifts, pallet jacks, and manual tools
• Secure cargo and repair damaged freight as needed
• Complete documentation and reports accurately
• Communicate with dispatch, customers, and sales teams
• Follow all laws, regulations, and company policies
• Perform additional duties such as tire chaining or road-side tasks when necessary
  
  

Qualifications & Skills

• Class A CDL or valid learner permit
• Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
• Knowledge of DOT regulations and safety standards
• Basic math, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds and perform physical tasks
• Ability to work independently or in a team
