The Surgical Coordinator will oversee every aspect of the patient's surgical experience, from initial scheduling and insurance authorization through post-operative care coordination. Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate all aspects of the surgical process, including scheduling surgeries, pre-operative testing, clearances, and post-operative follow-up appointments.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for patients, providing guidance on surgery preparation, testing requirements, scheduling, insurance, and financial responsibilities.
- Obtain insurance authorizations, verify patient eligibility, and ensure all required documentation is completed and submitted accurately.
- Communicate effectively with physicians, hospitals, surgery centers, patients, and ancillary providers to ensure seamless coordination of care.
- Prepare surgical charts, consent forms, and physician documentation while maintaining accurate records within the electronic medical record system.
- Manage a high-volume workload with exceptional attention to detail, strong follow-through, and the ability to prioritize competing responsibilities.
- Proactively address scheduling changes, cancellations, and workflow challenges while ensuring continuity of patient care.
- Collaborate with other departments to support efficient practice operations and an exceptional patient experience.
Required Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a physician practice, hospital, surgical scheduling department, or other healthcare setting.
- Previous experience coordinating surgeries or managing complex patient scheduling preferred.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, surgical procedures, and insurance authorization processes.
- Experience working within an electronic medical record system; ModMed experience preferred.
