Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, and brake systems with precision and attention to detail
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire service, wheel alignments, and system inspections to ensure optimal equipment performance
- Utilize schematics, technical manuals, and diagnostic software to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues on heavy equipment like excavators, cranes, forklifts, farm machinery, and industrial equipment
- Fabricate parts or modify components using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering techniques, and fabrication skills to meet repair specifications
- Conduct comprehensive vehicle inspections to identify wear or damage on heavy duty applications
Requirements
- Proven experience working as a mechanic or service technician in a dealership or heavy equipment environment with strong familiarity in diesel diagnostics and repair procedures
- Extensive knowledge of diesel engine repair along with experience servicing transmissions, hydraulics, air brakes, suspension systems, etc
- Skilled in reading schematics and technical manuals for troubleshooting complex electrical and mechanical systems
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering devices, and other fabrication tools necessary for equipment repair
- Ability to lift heavy components safely during maintenance tasks; heavy lifting experience preferred
- Valid experience operating heavy machinery such as excavators, cranes, forklifts or farm machinery is highly desirable
- Strong mechanical knowledge combined with excellent problem-solving skills; customer service experience is a plus
- Certification or hands-on experience with Cummins, Autocar, Perkins, Deutz, Kubota or similar heavy equipment brands is advantageous
- Strong communication skills to relay important repair information to upper management and customers
- Knowledge of computer diagnostic software is required
