Position Summary:
The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) plays a vital role in supporting both clients and clinical staff. BHTs ensure client safety and comfort, assist with daily operations, and help maintain a positive, structured environment. They collaborate closely with the nursing and clinical teams to support clients through their detox and early recovery process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain awareness of all client locations and activities at all times (including during breaks and off-unit activities).
- Conduct and document Q15 or Q30 safety checks as required.
- Take and record vital signs every 6 hours and as needed.
- Monitor clients for signs of medical or behavioral distress and promptly report any concerns to nursing or leadership.
- Engage with clients in a compassionate and professional manner — offering emotional support, encouragement, and accountability.
- Assist with admissions and discharges, including bag searches and orientation to program rules and facility expectations.
- Support the nursing team with tasks such as meal service, laundry, and ensuring client rooms remain clean and comfortable.
- Accurately document observations, incidents, and interactions in the EMR system (KIPU).
- Respond appropriately to medical and behavioral emergencies.
- Collaborate with all departments — nursing, clinical, housekeeping, and administration — to ensure a cohesive client experience.
- Uphold all company policies, safety protocols, and confidentiality requirements (HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2).
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Prior experience in a behavioral health or medical setting preferred.
- Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and remain calm under pressure.
- Must maintain professionalism, reliability, and compassion at all times.
- Valid driver’s license (for occasional client transport) preferred.
Schedule:
- 12-hour shifts (7p–7a)
- Weekend and holiday availability required
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
