Job Overview
Support and consistently reinforce Coastal’s Core Values, is responsible for a variety of areas, including foundation, structure and facade through MEP to interior rough and finish, depending on the size and requirements of the project, acts as leader, coach, negotiator and arbitrator.
Essential Duties / Responsibilities
- Oversees and documents all daily job site activities, ensuring compliance with Coastal and OSHA safety standards.
- Directs field personnel per the project plan and Coastal’s supervisory principles.
- Communicates daily site updates and issues to the Senior or General Superintendent.
- Reports problems promptly to facilitate cost-effective solutions with leadership.
- Establishes effective working relationships with clients and internal teams.
- Identifies pre-mobilization activities and develops the start-up schedule with leadership.
- Develops high-performance teams through supervision, coaching, and timely feedback.
- Fosters owner, architect, subcontractor, and vendor relations while upholding ethical standards.
- Supports Coastal’s technology initiatives and sets individual objectives for team members.
- Conducts construction inspections and ensures materials align with approved submittals.
- Manages and maintains the field construction schedule, including baseline updates and two-week look-aheads.
- Ensures subcontractor safety compliance, documentation, and inspection benchmarks.
- Mobilizes and maintains the job site, organizes documentation, and manages subcontractor performance.
- Attends and/or chairs all key project meetings including turnover, schedule reviews, and closeout sessions.
- Completes daily reports, maintains field logs, manages material deliveries, and updates as-built drawings.
- Assists in managing subcontractor pay apps, contract compliance, document control, and GC cost recovery.
Education / Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, related field preferred.
- 4 years of experience in the construction industry working on custom hi-end residential, luxury homes
Knowledge / Skills Required:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project schedule.
- Familiar with LEED principles.
- Able to multi-task and handle competing priorities while maintaining excellent customer relations.
- Understands business judgment and the balance between budget and construction processes.
- Excellent organizational skills to manage detailed construction requirements.
- Sound judgment to know when to escalate issues appropriately.
- Excellent management skills to ensure high-quality subcontractor performance.
- Proficient in Procore, Microsoft Office suite, Primavera P-6, Bluebeam, and Adobe.
