With over 10,000 participants, more than 100 days of competition, 25 divisions, and $750,000 in prizes, the tournament spans the entire Louisiana coast. STAR is a major membership driver for CCA Louisiana and helps fund critical marine conservation efforts throughout the state.

POSITION SUMMARY
CCA Louisiana seeks a dynamic and mission-driven professional to lead and grow its annual STAR Tournament. The STAR Tournament Director will report to the Board of Directors, management staff, and the STAR Chairman, and is responsible for the planning, execution, promotion, and success of all aspects of the tournament.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Oversee day-to-day operations and logistics of the STAR Tournament.
• Develop, secure, and manage sponsor relationships, including financial and in-kind contributions.
• Coordinate and fulfill sponsorship deliverables and obligations.
• Plan, manage and attend effective field promotions at fishing tournaments, youth outreach events, CCA banquets, trade/boat shows and other community events.
• Serve as the public face of STAR on media platforms including TV, radio, podcasts, and social media.
• Develop and implement a robust marketing and communications strategy including press, advertising, and digital media.
• Lead the creation of marketing content and promotional materials (video, creative, social media assets, etc.)
• Conduct market research and analytics to identify trends and growth opportunities.
• Manage tournament logistics such as tagged redfish releases, weigh station coordination, and scale certifications.
• Engage and maintain active communication with anglers, weigh stations, volunteers and sponsors to establish strong working relationships.
• Contribute to website and social media content with appropriate and accurate information
• Coordinate tournament preparations including tagged redfish release, weigh station visits, scale certifications and distribution of marking materials
• Oversee planning and executing of budgeting goals
• Handle any tournament-related disputes professionally and promptly.
• Oversee the planning and production of the STAR Annual Awards Ceremony.
• Coordinate all paperwork and compliance documentation for prize winners.
• Provide regular updates to anglers, staff, media, Board members, and the STAR Committee.
• Contribute to special projects and perform additional tasks as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfortable with public speaking and on-camera appearances.
• Self-starter with entrepreneurial spirit and problem-solving ability.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Demonstrated success in working within deadline-driven environments.
• Knowledge of fishing tournaments, marine conservation, and Louisiana’s coastal waters.
• Ability to develop and manage budgets.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and social media platforms.
• Ability to maintain professionalism and foster relationships with sponsors, members, and stakeholders.

EDUCATION
Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communication, Business or related fields preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
• Willingness to travel throughout Louisiana and occasionally out-of-state.
• Must be available for evening and weekend work.
• Reliable vehicle capable of pulling a trailer.
• Physical ability to lift/move up to 70 pounds, drive long distances, and stand for extended periods.
• Valid driver’s license required.
