POSITION: Truck Technician

REPORTS TO: Branch Manager/Shop Foreman

JOB TYPE: Full Time

JOB SUMMARY: The Truck Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining semi-trucks to ensure safe and reliable operations. This role requires mechanical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will be a problem-solver with a strong commitment to safety and efficiency.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on semi-trucks.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical components.
  • Conduct DOT inspections and ensure all equipment meets safety and compliance standards.
  • Welding and fabrication skills are a plus
  • Maintain detailed service records and document all repairs and inspections.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to identify issues and determine appropriate solutions.
  • Ensure work is completed efficiently while maintaining high safety and quality standards.
  • Communicate with drivers and fleet managers regarding maintenance needs and repair timelines.
  • Adhere to company policies, OSHA regulations, and environmental safety standards.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 75 lbs.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, crawling, and working in confined spaces.
  • Capable of standing for long periods and working in varied weather conditions.

Lifting/Carrying:

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 75 lbs occasionally.
  • Frequent handling of tools, equipment, and parts of varying sizes and weights.

Work Hours:

  • Must be available for various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Overtime may be required based on operational demands.

Equipment Requirements:

  • Experience using diagnostic tools and hand tools for truck and trailer repairs.
  • Knowledge of welding, and electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of hydraulics is a plus but not required.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2 years of experience as a diesel mechanic or service technician preferred.
  • ASE Certification or equivalent is a plus.
  • CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) preferred but not required.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with an insurable driving record.

Skills:

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Effective communication skills with team members and management.

Language and Reasoning Skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret service manuals, technical documents, and safety regulations.
  • Strong reasoning skills to diagnose mechanical issues and implement appropriate repairs.

Work Environment:

  • Work Environment is indoors and outdoors as needed.
  • Exposure to loud noises, grease, dirt, and hazardous materials.
  • Working around moving trucks and trailers.

Vision/Hearing/Speaking:

  • Must have adequate vision to read gauges, schematics, and service manuals.
  • Good hearing for diagnosing engine sounds and safety communications.
  • Clear speech to communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
