What are the responsibilities and job description for the Driver - Demand Response position at Coast Transit Authority?
Job Summary:
This position operates a bus for the purpose of carrying passengers on our Demand Response service in a safe manner and in accordance with local, county, state, and federal laws as well as company policies. This is a mid-level position that requires strong independent judgment in operating the bus for the safety of the passengers and the public.
Job Requirements:
- Must be able to transport the public safely, following a set schedule, and maintain vehicle reports.
- Must have above average communication and people skills.
- Must be able to work independently and meet the physical requirements of the job to include sitting for extended periods of time, lift, push and pull up to 50 lbs., move up and down stairs easily, reach overhead and below the knees, bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
- Must be able to work under pressure and adapt to a variety of people and fellow employees.
- Must have, or have the ability to obtain, a MS CDL Class B with "P" passenger endorsement.
- Requires a clean driving record.
- Must pass the company Drug and Alcohol screening test and abide by all drug free workplace policies and FTA/DOT guidelines.
- Must pass a pre-employment physical examination, to include a vision test.
- Must be capable of performing all tasks in a variety of weather conditions.
Education:
- Must have a High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
- Must be able to stand, walk and sit for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to bend, twist, squat, crouch, and kneel and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
- Exposed to varying weather conditions and traffic environments.
