What are the responsibilities and job description for the Asphalt Paving Equipment Operator position at Coast Services?
Coast Pavement Services is seeking experienced equipment operators with a strong work ethic and that want to be part of the Paving it Forward culture at Coast as part of its paving team. The successful operator will have experience operating equipment such as skid steers, asphalt rollers, backhoes and/or excavators.
Our operation is a local one with most of the work occurring during the day, Monday-Friday: very few, but some, nights and Saturday work. Days can vary in length from short to very long. We focus primarily on parking lots of commercial, office, industrial, and multi-family properties; not roads or highways.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Daily inspections of truck, equipment, and trailers.
- Ability to load and secure equipment on trailer.
- Understanding of and willingness to abide by all safety protocols.
- Ability to complete required paperwork; inspection report, drivers log, etc.
- Maintain daily and weekly equipment maintenance (supported by in-house mechanics).
- Exhibit leadership, communicate with crew and foreman.
- Growth mindset, Respect team members, Coast employees and the public.
- Ability to identify hazardous situations and potential problems.
- Roller operators: experience with a variety of rolling patterns will move you higher on the pay scale.
Qualifications:
- At least Three years related equipment operation experience is required.
- Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions including heat, cold, wind, rain, and dusty environments.
- Be flexible on schedule with overtime, nights (rarely) and Saturdays/Sundays as necessary.
- Must have a strong work ethic.
- Ability to thrive in a team setting.
- Ability to communicate with supervisors, co-workers, contractors, and customers in a courteous, professional manner at all times.
- A valid driver's license is highly preferred.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment and random drug testing.
