- Member of the interdisciplinary team contributing professional nursing knowledge and skills in patient care management through the nursing process.
- Performs procedures ensuring accurate and complete examinations within Medical Imaging guidelines, policies, procedures, and standards for patients of all ages.
- Practices nursing within the scope of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse licensure.
- Oversees and performs thorough patient assessments, analyzes findings, reports significant observations, and enhances family communication.
- Assumes responsibility for efficient, thorough, and effective interventional case flow in the Medical Imaging Department.
- Administers medications and conscious sedation safely and effectively following policies.
- Controls narcotics and supplies with appropriate documentation.
- Monitors patient condition and initiates appropriate interventions as needed.
- Follows and oversees Joint Commission patient safety goals and quality throughout procedures.
- Demonstrates competency in caring for critically ill patients and functions independently in emergency situations.
- Sets up and uses monitoring equipment including capnography, cardiac output, arterial pressures during procedures.
- Performs venipuncture and insertion of peripheral catheters.
- Performs adult and pediatric catheterization as needed.
- Performs nursing tasks in Radiology Department, IR, and nursing floors.
- Performs daily inspections such as refrigerator temperature, crash cart, defibrillator, blood oximeter, narcotics log.
- Functions as circulating tech and scrub assistant during procedures.
- Educates patients and maintains knowledge of moderate sedation guidelines.
- Assists in scheduling and coordinates daily flow of interventional cases between IR, CT, General Diagnostic, Sono, MRI, and Nuclear Medicine.
- Coordinates RN resources to various departments as dictated by case load.
- Provides proper explanation of procedures to patients and families to ensure understanding.
- Assesses and chooses teaching strategies appropriate to patient's/family's age-specific needs.
- Adapts teaching strategies based on patient's response, readiness to learn, and comprehension level.
- Considers cultural, age-specific, gender, and developmental factors when teaching about procedures and hospital experience.
- Ensures patient safety by following policies and adhering to National Patient Safety Goals.
- Consults appropriate hospital resources for specialized education.
- Utilizes SVI patient education system as a resource for patients and family members.

- At least 1 year experience as a Registered Nurse.
- Basic reading, writing, and oral English skills.
