Overview:

As an Engineer at Coast Line Transfers, LLC, you will play a critical role in maintaining our vessels in a state of readiness for customer operations. Your work will include a range of physical tasks, from standing engine room watches, vessel maintenance & repairs, and assisting with deck tasks. This position offers the opportunity to work on various vessel types and contribute significantly to our maritime operations.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized engine room.
  • Stand engine room watches, contributing to the machinery's efficient operation.
  • Designated duties such as startups/shutdowns, fuel transfers, lubrication services, filter changes, preventative maintenance tasks, etc.
  • Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair on propulsion machinery, auxiliary equipment, and other vessel systems.
  • Accurate record keeping of machinery readings, daily logs, critical spares inventory and maintenance notes.
  • Compliance with all engineering, safety, and environmental standards and procedures.
  • Equipment operation and monitor during routine safety drills.
  • Perform other duties as assigned (ex. chipping, painting, line handling, etc.)

Qualifications:

  • Ability to stand engine room watches.
  • Must meet physical requirements for engineering duties such as working in hot spaces, use of tools and other equipment, etc.
  • Minimal direction needed to carry out essential job responsibilities and duties.
  • Understand and use information from engine manuals and machinery data sheets.
  • Fluency in reading, speaking, and understanding English for effective communication.
  • Previous work experience with Detroit Diesel or Cummins engines is helpful but not necessary.

Required Certifications or Licenses:

  • Must possess a valid Coast Guard Merchant Mariners Document with STCW Basic Training Endorsement.
  • Must possess a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
  • Must posses a vaild USCG Medical Certificate.
  • Valid state driver's license.

Job Condition and Environment:

  • Exposure to all weather conditions (rain, ice, snow, heat, wind, heavy seas, etc.)
  • Ability to live in tight spaces and maintain good relations with crew members for extended periods.
  • Comfort with heights is essential.
  • Work involves using pike poles, heavy lines, winches, mechanical tools, paints, and cleaning solvents.
  • Physical fitness to handle heavy lines/hoses, lift, carry heavy items, and navigate barges and ladders effectively.

Expected Hours of Work:

  • Flexibility in schedules and hours, including weekends, holidays, and night shifts.
  • Availability for call-outs as needed.
