Coast 236 Restaurant & Bar in scenic downtown Saugatuck, MI is hiring passionate, ingredient driven personnel to aid in the service of our coast inspired, innovative cuisine. This is a great opportunity for the right individual to work with a James Beard recognized Chef in the area of oceanic sustainability. This is the perfect position to learn and utilize top end ingredients and cooking methods to further one's base knowledge of cuisine. Our menus are ingredient driven, seasonal and will evolve accordingly. We are offering a 6 course and 9 course tasting menu in conjunction with our ala carte menus. This position offers excellent exposure on a national level. Compensation is commensurate with experience for all positions.
Responsibilities
- Execute service to the utmost standard.
- To produce consistent and technically sound product that our clientele expects.
- Ensure that the kitchen operates in a timely manner which coincides with our quality standards.
- Fill in for the Executive Chef or Chef de Cuisine in planning and executing food preparation when necessary.
- Resourcefully solve any issues that arise and seize control of any problematic situation.
- Order supplies to stock inventory appropriately.
- Comply with and enforce sanitation regulations and safety standards.
- Maintain a positive work culture and professional environment at all times.
Skills
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef/Chef Tournant in a fine dining establishment.
- Understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, procedures and food culture
- Proven record of lateral kitchen experience
- Experience in working with high end ingredients.
- Accuracy and speed in handling emergency situations and providing solutions.
- Familiar with industry’s best practices
- Must have serv safe certification
- Fine Dining experience preferred, and tasting menu experience moves to the front of the line.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $16.00 - $22.00 per hour
