Responsibilities
- Engage with clients to assess their mortgage needs, providing clear explanations of loan options and guiding them through the loan origination process.
- Utilize Loan Origination Systems (LOS) and financial software to process applications efficiently and accurately.
- Conduct credit analysis, underwriting support, and risk assessments in compliance with FNMA (Fannie Mae) guidelines and fair housing regulations.
- Negotiate terms with clients, real estate agents, and other stakeholders to secure favorable loan agreements while maintaining compliance with TILA (Truth in Lending Act) and other federal regulations.
- Manage mortgage servicing tasks, including escrow account setup, loan processing, and ongoing client communication to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Stay informed about industry trends, banking regulations, and financial compliance standards to provide expert advice and maintain industry knowledge.
- Build strong relationships through excellent customer service, effective communication, and proactive follow-up throughout the loan lifecycle.
Requirements
- Valid mortgage license in accordance with state licensing laws; prior experience as a licensed mortgage loan officer is essential.
- Demonstrated expertise in mortgage lending, retail lending, commercial lending analysis, and risk assessment.
- Proficiency with Loan Origination Systems (LOS), accounting software, financial software, and basic math skills including 10-key typing accuracy.
- Deep understanding of fair housing regulations, TILA disclosures, FNMA guidelines, and banking regulatory compliance standards.
- Strong negotiation skills combined with excellent client communication abilities to foster trust and clarity.
- Knowledge of mortgage servicing processes, escrow management, credit analysis, underwriting procedures, and loan processing workflows.
- Ability to analyze financial documents accurately while adhering to industry regulations related to loans and contracts.
- Exceptional relationship-building skills within financial sales environments; experience in customer service is highly valued.
